when the sickness came, it started out within the canid population. I remember how the world reacted then, first it was ignored by everyone outside the affect species group - its flu-like symptoms raise little concern to any health organization then. Eventually it would mutate, it spread further - first it was the Ursidae, then the Felids. Efforts then were first put into curing it before it spread any further, researchers spent weeks identifying it first, then millions were spent cautiously towards creating the cure, atleast there were a limitless pool of willing test subjects worldwide they could count on, everybody was doing their part to cure this new sickness, every species came together as one to prevent it from getting worse. Well, thats what the news would've told you anyways. Its now commonly known now that many of these test subjects were canids - incarcerated canids specifically. yknow, those charged with the small petty crimes - the falsely accused, the maniacs and the murdering psychopaths too. the ones society could forget about easily without noticing, they were the first to suffer. Nothing did come from it either, no cure - no treatment, nothing but some new bio-weapons and bio-health medicines. Anyways, it wasnt long until the fears began to dwell on everyones mind, the sickness was still here, there was no sign of progress for years, and news of newer symptoms leaked. It had society on edge, it had cities in chaos, and it opened a door for opportunists to push an agenda onto those lost. anti-canid ideologies spread rapidly, the world had their scapegoat now. It wasnt long until we had politions calling it CORS; Canid-Origin Respiratory Sundrome, or Canine Fever. Immediate bans were placed upon anyone in the Canid family - meaning you couldnt go get food from grocery stores, you couldn't seek medical help or assistance, you couldnt request emergency services, no, you weren't even allowed to travel outdoors anywhere. you had families starving to death in their homes, you had others being firebombed and burned alive, then you had the fools who would just break into your home and murdered everyone inside with a firearm, it was pure evil and the world was watching too. then there were toll-free numbers to report any canid breaking containment, first they just would arrest you, collect you and your family, and send you to these "quarantine" centres for information collection. Your family would then be processed, ID'd, and logged into their systems, and then you would be released home. That was the process for awhile, until it suddenly changed. soon eventually came the liquidators, the soldiers that killed and burned any canid they could find and then destroyed everything said victim owned and came in contact with. it would be an understatement saying it was just barbaric - no, it was down right horrific. soon enough you would see thousands of videos circulating online of these liquidations, the public abductions, and even the murders too. Many people didnt do a thing about it, they just watched in horror - and some of them enjoyed it too, anti-canid ideoligies had evolved so much, so suddenly, it almost spread as fast as the next mutation did. Theres something ironic to it all, really, all their efforts containing it, the bloodshed, all of their procedures, all that work, the effort, all of that - just for the sickness to eventually become airborne. Then it was futile to fight what came next. everyone was getting sick then - but now it wasnt just some flu anymore - no, it was as if the sickness itself saw what the world did to the canids, and it was disgusted by it. unfortunatly, the innocent wasn't spared from its reaction either, those who fought against the hate, the ones who researched for the cure independently, the families, the teachers, the neighbours, the friends, the lovers, everyone was being punished, everyone was going to die.. All but the Canids. All they could do was watch. ----------------------------------------- SYMPTOMS ----------------------------- On day one you'll first feel a burning sensation inside your chest and the subtle itch will creep into the back of your throat. if you didnt notice these symptoms by the next 12 hours, the second stage would ensure you become aware of your fate. a horrible sense of dread will sweep into your mind, You'll start coughing sharp, your body will begin to feel more heavier, the tremors in your paws will begin, and the dulling of your vision will begin to worsen. A ringing in your head will begin getting louder and louder - the confusion and paranoia will settling in, it will all eventually leading up to the cough developing its distinctive cackling bark. the burning in your chest will stab your guts, the coughing fits will worsen as your chest aches and tightens, The bloody pulp from the damage done to your lungs will begin to mix with your saliva. each cough follows blood and a pain only described as gratting sandpaper and glass shards against your stomach. the drooling will begin to become uncontrollable, the mess will be horrific. eventually then, you will simply crumble underneath its grasp. your body will fail to hold you up, your coughing will choke you of the air your brain and body is screaming for, and then youll either succomb to massive hemoptysis - or you die from the blood loss alone. It is by far the worst way to die, no cure has been discovered. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- unless you were part of the canid family in any way, your body wasnt built to handle these symptoms. if you or someone you know catches CORS, euthanasia is the most humane thing to consider. im sorry.
